Types of Strings courses available:
Violin
Viola
Cello
Double Bass

Features of the course:

  • Weekly individual lesson with the assigned teacher
  • For Violin and Cello courses, there is a once a month participation in the Violin and Cello Ensembles respectively. During the Violin and Cello Ensemble week, there are no individual lessons accorded
  • Features of the Violin and Cello Ensembles:

  • Transforming the students' competence to artistry by providing monthly ensemble performance practice
  • Developing ensemble skills
  • Course Objectives:

  • To build a sound technical skill base in posture, movement, Left Hand technique and bowing
  • To master music-reading ability and aural awareness
  • To develop tone production, colours and sonority so as to enhance the ability to communicate with an audience
  • To master stylistic interpretations of various strings repertoire
  • To encourage musicianship through performances as a soloist or in an ensemble
  • Admission requirements:
    • Minimum age:
         - Individual violin course: 4 years old
         - Individual cello course: 5 years old
         - Individual double bass course: 7 years old
         - Group Violin: 3 ½ years old

  • Minimum age requirements for individual violin studies are waived for selected graduates from Mandeville's Suzuki Baby Violin Course
