Features of the course:
Weekly individual lesson with the assigned teacher
For Violin and Cello courses, there is a once a month participation in the Violin and Cello Ensembles respectively. During the Violin and Cello Ensemble week, there are no individual lessons accorded
Features of the Violin and Cello Ensembles:
Transforming the students' competence to artistry by providing monthly ensemble performance practice
Developing ensemble skills
Course Objectives:
To build a sound technical skill base in posture, movement, Left Hand technique and bowing
To master music-reading ability and aural awareness
To develop tone production, colours and sonority so as to enhance the ability to communicate with an audience
To master stylistic interpretations of various strings repertoire
To encourage musicianship through performances as a soloist or in an ensemble
Admission requirements:
• Minimum age:
- Individual violin course: 4 years old
- Individual cello course: 5 years old
- Individual double bass course: 7 years old
- Group Violin: 3 ½ years old
Minimum age requirements for individual violin studies are waived for selected graduates from Mandeville's Suzuki Baby Violin Course
